        Central Otago District Council has advised that winter rabbit-control operations are taking place at several public sites across the district.

        Pindone-laced carrot bait is being used at the Cromwell and Clyde cemeteries and Half Mile Recreation Reserve in Alexandra. Control is also planned for Sugarloaf Scenic Reserve near Cromwell, where aerial and manual bait drops may require the temporary closure of the 45th Parallel Track.

        The Council advises people not to handle bait or rabbit carcasses, to supervise children and to prevent dogs from accessing carcasses. Warning signs will be displayed in affected areas.
